About Jess
My name is Jess Armitage. I am a Clinical Psychologist and Psychodynamic Psychotherapist working in private practice in Melbourne. I provide individual psychotherapy for adults. I have worked with people from all kinds of backgrounds who are facing a wide range of challenges. Before private practice I worked in hospitals, domestic violence and sexual abuse services, alcohol and drug services, and child and family services.
I have been trained in and influenced by a variety of therapeutic approaches, but primarily practice from a psychoanalytic perspective. Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is a depth based therapeutic approach that focuses on self understanding and self liberation from within a holding therapeutic relationship. I support patients to understand the origins of their distress and explore new ways of being.
